Anti-drone nets – passive protection against UAVs
Passive protection systems against unmanned aerial vehicles for critical infrastructure, military facilities and operational vehicles. Designed and manufactured to the individual requirements of the contracting authority.
Passive UAV protection – how do anti-drone nets work?
An anti-drone net is a passive physical protection system that intercepts and immobilises unmanned aerial vehicles without electrical power, RF signals or any active countermeasures. Unlike jammers and kinetic systems, it does not interfere with own communications and requires no permanent power supply.
Nets are installed above protected areas as permanent structures, or deployed as mobile systems mounted on vehicles and trailers. They are effective against commercial class I and II drones – including FPV drones and multirotors used in attacks.
Aliff Defence designs and manufactures anti-drone nets as part of a comprehensive facility protection system. Every solution is engineered for a specific location, threat profile and the operational requirements of the customer.
Applications
Engineered for specific operational requirements.
Critical infrastructure protection
Power plants, transformer stations, telecom facilities, ports and rail hubs. Nets installed as a permanent protective canopy above sensitive infrastructure. Weather-resistant and, in selected configurations, visually discreet from the air.
- Permanent installation above the site
- Weather-resistant construction
- Low visibility from the air (option)
- Integration with detection systems
Military bases and facilities
Military bases, ammunition depots, command centres and special-purpose facilities. Systems engineered to the operational requirements of the contracting unit. Full technical documentation and certification available on request.
- Designed to MoD requirements
- Full technical documentation
- Certification available
- Installation by authorised personnel
Mobile systems on vehicles and trailers
Foldable anti-drone net systems mounted on operational vehicles or Aliff modular off-road trailers. Deployed in the field by a small crew in under 15 minutes. Ad-hoc protection for command posts, convoys and logistics points.
- Mounting on Aliff vehicles
- Integration with the modular trailer
- Deployment in under 15 minutes
- Small crew (2–4 operators)
Why a net – not only a jammer?
Active and passive systems complement each other.
| Criterion | Net (passive) | Jammer (active) |
|---|---|---|
| Power supply | Not required | Permanent supply required |
| RF interference | None | Yes (dead zone) |
| Own communications | Unaffected | May be degraded |
| Effectiveness vs FPV | High | Limited |
| Radar/EM signature | No emission | Detectable |
| Maintenance | Minimal | Regular |
| Deployment time | Fast | Requires integration |
| Certification | Simplified | Complex |
Optimal protection combines passive and active layers. Aliff Defence cooperates with B4Limits and AP-FLYER on comprehensive C-UAS solutions.
